DC police photo of road closures due to water main break at Benning Road
WASHINGTON (WUSA/AP) - Separate water main breaks are causing flooded roadways in northeast Washington and Montgomery County on Monday morning.
WSSC says 49 customers are affected after an 8-inch pipe broke between 3 and 4 a.m. in Gaithersburg. Montgomery County police say Gold Kettle Drive is still closed in both directions.
District of Columbia police are reporting closures in the area of Benning and Bladensburg roads in northeast because of a water main break there. Police say the 1500 and 1600 westbound blocks of Benning Road now have 2 left lanes open. Northbound Benning Road is open.
DC Water says no homes are affected, but the Hechinger Plaza shopping center is impacted by the water main break.
Crews are working to fix the problems.
