UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- The Prince George's County Sheriff's Office says Mark McNabb was arrested in California for a 1987 assault with intent to murder warrant.
On November 11, 1987, McNabb forced himself into an apartment while armed in Seat Pleasant looking for someone that was visiting, officials said.
McNabb and the visitor exchanged gunfire, before he fled after being injured, officials said.
Authorities said they received information that the suspect was possibly detained in Los Angeles, California for a traffic violation in early September.
"Initially, McNabb fought extradition claiming that he was not the person named in the 1988 warrant," The Prince George's County Sheriff's Office said in a release.
On Oct. 14, McNabb was extradited to Prince George's County Department of Corrections where he is being held with no bond.
