SUITLAND, Md. (WUSA9) -- Metro says that the Suitland Metro station parking garage is not closed, but is in the first phase of a rehabilitation project affecting some sections on the north entrance side.
According to WMATA spokesperson Morgan Dye, "This is the first phase of about an 18-month project."
Dye says the project is needed for preventative maintenance during the garage's mid-life mark to ensure the facility lasts another 20 years. Dye stressed that it was not a structural rehabilitation project.
The Suitland garage contains 1,890 spaces and approximately 225 spaces are impacted as a result of the project, according to Dye.
