SANDY POINT, Md. (AP) - The Maryland Transportation Authority is limiting traffic on the Bay Bridge as severe storms approach the area.
The National Weather Service has issued severe thunderstorm watches and warnings for much of Maryland, Delaware, the District of Columbia and northern Virginia in effect through the morning Thursday.
Tamory Winfield of the transportation authority says traffic is being limited to one lane on the three-lane westbound span in case it is necessary to clear the bridge quickly.
Forecasters are warning that the storms could produce damaging winds and large hail and a flash flood watch is in effect through the evening.
