(WUSA9) -- Tuesday, Pope Francis took to Twitter to voice his support for the victims of the Oklahoma tornado that killed at least 51 people.
@Pontifex tweeted: "I am close to the families of all who died in the Oklahoma tornado, especially those who lost young children. Join me in praying for them."
At least 20 children were among those people killed when the tornado rolled through the Oklahoma City suburbs on Tuesday. An elementary school and homes were demolished, and crews worked throught the night searching for survivors. The number of fatalities is expected to climb, officials said.
