(WUSA9) -- Fairfax County police say an officer spotted a robbery in progress on Monday and four suspects were taken into custody.
Police say the officer was on patrol in the shopping center in the 7400 block of Little River Turnpike when he noticed a car creeping toward him without its lights on. He would later find out that a 15-year-old boy was being robbed during a sneaker sale, say police.
According to police, the boy had put an ad online to sell Nike tennis shoes and scheduled to meet up a prospective buyer at the shopping center at approximately 10:50 p.m.
At the time the officer spotted the vehicle, the teen was a passenger in the vehicle and signaled his distress to the officer, say police. The officer received information that there was a gun and he and other officers, stopped the vehicle, say police.
Police say four suspects were taken into custody and charged with robbery, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and abduction. They are: 22-year-old Marion Kenneth Allen, Jr., 22-year-old Cye Adam Penn, 19-year-old Bryant Robinson and 22-year-old Xavier Hall.
Police remind buyers and sellers using online services to proceed with caution. Meet during daylight hours, never alone, and in a public place. Transactions with strangers can be risky and all those involved need to take precautions to protect their safety.
