WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) - D.C. taxis may soon rock the same red as Capital Bikeshare and the city circulator.
The panel appointed by the D.C. Taxicab Commission came out with its recommendation in February, noting that red is "strongly associated" with the District. D.C. taxi cab commission spokesman Neville Waters said Monday that Wednesday's 10 a.m. meeting of the group will reveal the proposed red-with-a-gray-stripe design, according to WNEW.
In December, D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray and DC Taxicab Commission Chairman Ron Linton unveiled four possible color schemes (yellow/green, yellow/white, black/red, red/white) for the fleet at the Verizon Center.
The District wants a unified color as part of upgrades outlined in the Taxicab Modernization Act. Currently, cabs in the district can be found in a wide variety of colors.
