WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of Erick Amilicar Mendez-Orellana, police said.
The Prince George's County Department identified the suspects as 24-year-old Juan Alberto Ortiz-Orellana who is from the 5000 block of Silver Hill Court in District Heights and 19-year-old Jorge Enrique Moreno-Aguilar of the 6500 block of Grafton Street in District Heights.
The incident occurred on March 12 at approximately 8:30 p.m., when police responded to a report of a shooting at the 4900 block of Marlboro Pike in Capitol Heights, police said.
When they arrived on the scene, they discovered the victim who was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
According to a press release, "Ortiz-Orellana was arrested on unrelated immigration charges by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations agents on April 18, 2013. After that arrest, PGPD detectives interviewed Ortiz-Orellana and he admitted his involvement in the murder. Based on information he provided, detectives developed Moreno-Aguilar as a suspect."
