MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA9) -- A man from California has been arrested for reportedly bringing a Maryland runaway to Virginia for prostitution at hotels, say Prince William County Police.
On Thursday, police say detectives found a suspicious person in the area of the Holiday Inn in the 10200 block of Balls Ford Road in Manassas. They learned the man, 26-year-old Jamal Arris Thompson of Oakland, Calif., was housing a 15-year-old girl in a room of the hotel believed to be involved in prostitution, say police.
Detectives from the Special Victim's Unit identified the girl as a missing juvenile from Maryland and found out she reportedly ran away from home and met Thompson at a convenience store in Maryland sometime in February, according to police.
Thompson allegedly brought the girl to Virginia where she was prostituted at various hotels, say police.
Police say Thompson was arrested and charged with receiving money from prostitution, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, taking indecent liberties with a minor, procuring a person for prostitution, and use of a communication device to solicit a minor.
He is being held without bond, according to police.
Police say the girl is now back in Maryland.
