WASHINGTON (WUSA9) --- We're just hours away from the start of Supreme Court hearings which could have a lasting impact on the issue of same sex marriage in the United States. Arguments on California's Proposition 8 is the first of two cases to be heard this week. It's the voter-approved referendum which outlawed same sex marriage in that state.
Demonstrators on both sides of the same sex marriage issue are outside the Supreme Court on Tuesday morning.
According to a tweet by Bruce Johnson, 18,000 same sex California couples got married legally before the ban was approved by voters.
Delia Goncalves also talked to David Cruz of California who talked more about Prop 8 and the impact of the high court's possible decisions.
