NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - The Navy has delayed the planned departure of one of its amphibious ready groups because of bad weather.
Sailors and Marines from the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group and the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit were originally scheduled to leave Norfolk on Friday.
But because of forecasted high winds and potentially heavy seas, that's been pushed back to Monday.
The deployment is part of a regular rotation of forces to Europe and the Middle East.
The ready group is comprised of the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge, amphibious transport dock USS San Antonio and amphibious dock landing ship USS Carter Hall.
