WASHINGTON (AP/WUSA9) - The expected 'snowquester' spared the nation's capital from heavy snow fall on Wednesday.

WUSA9 reporter Ko Im took to the streets and says very little accumulation was seen. A big difference from prior predictions of up to six inches.

The inch or two that fell Wednesday morning in Washington was enough to shut down much of the city. Federal offices were closed, and commuter trains were canceled or ran on abbreviated schedules.

But most of the snow melted as soon as it hit city streets.

The Smithsonian Institution museums on the National Mall remained open for visitors, but the National Zoo was closed.

At the monuments and memorials, the National Park Service closed its ranger stations.
