COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Prince George's County Police arrested 20-year-old Edwin Morales in connection to a fatal shooting last weekend.
According to police, 20-year-old David Esequel Avelar, of Hillcrest Heights, was fatally shot by Morales on on Feb. 24 after attending a party at a hotel on Baltimore Avenue.
Police said a fight between in the parking lot between the group the victim was in and a second group attending another party.
During the confrontation the victim was shot by Morales and was pronounced dead at a hospital, police said.
Investigators said the murder was gang-related.
Morales has been charged with first and second degree murder, among other charges. On March 1st, He was arrested in the 3000 block of 14th Street in Northwest, D.C. and is awaiting extradition to Prince George's County.
