HYATTSVILLE, Md. (WUSA) --  A Hyattsville family has a lot to be thankful for this Christmas. They are celebrating with gifts and new found hope after a story we originally aired earlier this month.

The mood at Angela McLeod's home is cheery, but a few weeks ago the family's outlook on the holidays was less bright.

Angela's best friend Carlotta Sharps died this past October while giving birth to her son Xavier. Angela, along with Carlotta's brother John, stepped up to raise the three children left behind. The problem was that they had fallen on hard times and Christmas was in jeopardy of not happening. We told our viewers about the family's situation and viewers got involved.

According to Angela and John, the home began filling with gifts the next they. They got a tree, toys, clothing and food. Perfect strangers were coming by to try to give the grieving family a reason to smile.

They told us that one woman saw the news and said she couldn't sleep. She asked what the kids wanted for Christmas and she came back an hour later with a bag of gifts.

The girls also got a room makeover courtesy of one of our viewers. Jonae and Seanice's entire room has new furniture, new paint and a redesigned layout for these two sisters and their baby brother to live in.

The family members want to tell everyone thank you, and that they are overwhelmed by the support they received from WUSA 9 viewers.

"We love you all. We can't individually thank everybody but know we love you all," said Angela.
