FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA) - A hit-and-run driver damaged the garage doors at the City of Fairfax Police Headquarters early Thursday morning, according to police.
The driver, a Virginia man, was later apprehended and charged with driving under the influence. Anthony John Skrobacz, 49, of 10705 Bradford Street, Spotsylvania, drove a 1999 Mercury Marquis into the driveway of the headquarters at 3730 Old Lee Highway. Police say he drove through the lowered door of the garage/processing area at about 2 a.m. Skrobacz left the scene after damaging the doors. No injuries were reported, and no contents of the building were damaged.
Shortly after, police responding to a report of an accident at University Drive and Willard Way found the Mercury which was stopped on top of a median in a private parking lot. Police determined that its driver had been responsible for the damage to the headquarters building.
Skrobacz was placed under arrest and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, reckless driving and hit-and-run. His bond was set at $5000.
