ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Robert Griffin III calls tight end Logan Paulsen a "lumberjack."

Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan chimes in with "gym rat" and "Neanderthal."

Whatever the nickname, Paulsen is now the Washington Redskins starting tight end, a job even he didn't think he'd have.

Fred Davis is out with a torn Achilles, and Chris Cooley working his way back into playing shape after being re-signed. That leaves the 6-foot-5 Paulsen atop the depth chart in his third season as an undrafted player out of UCLA.

Paulsen has four catches in each of his last two games as Griffin spreads the ball around without a prime go-to target on the field.

The Redskins host Carolina on Sunday.
