FALLS CHURCH, Va. (WUSA) -- A body was found after firefighters reported to the scene of a house fire in Falls Church on Monday, say Fairfax County Fire and Rescue officials.
According to officials, the fire happened at a two-story cape cod style home in the 6600 block of Orland Street shortly after 4 a.m. They say during firefighters' attack on the heavy fire outside the home, the second floor collapsed. Officials say firefighters got the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes.
According to officials, as firefighters were "digging out the fire" they found the body. Police and firefighters are investigating, and the medical examiner will determine the cause of death. The name of the person is being withheld until next of kin is notified.
The cause of the fire is also under investigation.
