GERMANTOWN, Md. (WUSA) - A bicyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a school bus Wednesday afternoon, according to Montgomery County Fire & Rescue.
The collision took place at the intersection of Darnestown and Berryville Roads. Darnestown Road was shut down in both directions between 118 and Berryville Road.
The bicyclist, who has not been identified, sustained serious life-threatening injuries and was taken to an area trauma center. Twenty-nine students from Poolesville H.S. were aboard the bus. No one on the bus was injured, according to MCFD. The bus driver, Michael Rinaldo, 53, of Germantown, was taken to an area hospital for a check-up, according to Montgomery County Police.
The bicyclist, an adult male, remained hospitalized in critical condition as of late Wednesday night.
Montgomery County Police are investigating the incident.
