WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) -- Sunday was a good day to own a Washington-area restaurant with big screen televisions.

Just ask Scott Magnuson of the Argonaut restaurant in Northeast Washington, one of countless places in the Washington-area where sports fans gathered to watch the Ravens and Redskins football games, and the Orioles and Nationals playoff baseball games.

For a few dozen bars and restaurants in the district, Sunday was a big day not just because of all the games that were on television, but because it was the first day that they could stay open until four in the morning the day before Columbus Day, as well as Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The Argonaut was one of 42 establishments that applied for, and were given, licenses to stay open until four in the morning.  Scott Magnuson says it could be very good for business.

"I think DC is getting younger and hipper, so I think people are out later now. Whether it's going to be good, I don't know, I don't think anybody knows at this point," Magnuson said.

What will also certainly be good for Magnuson's business is if the Nationals keep winning, and the Redskins start winning once again.
