COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WUSA) - Several University of Maryland students have recently discovered bedbugs in their dorm-style campus apartments, according to a report in the campus newspaper The Diamondback.
The students, who noticed "strange bites on their bodies" during the early weeks of the school semester, reported the presence of the insects to the apartment staff, the newspaper reported.
Students told 9News's Ken Molestina that they continue to suffer bedbug bites despite visits by exterminators, and have had to empty closets and rooms. They describe continued bites and distraction from their studies.
Bedbugs have plagued Commons apartments for the last couple of years, according to The Diamondback.
