Unidentified Man Dead of Injuries Suffered in multiple-vehicle crash in Dumfries, Va.

DUMFRIES,  Va. (WUSA) -  A 51-year-old Fredericksburg man was killed on Saturday when the car he was driving was struck by another car that crossed into oncoming traffic and hit four cars, including his 2000 Mercury Marquis, according to Prince William County Police.

Police responded to the area of Dumfries Rd. and Talon Dr, at about 11:05 p.m. on Saturday for a report of a multiple vehicle accident. Their investigation showed that the 17-year-old female from Stafford, Va., driving a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling southbound on Dumfries Rd and crossed into oncoming traffic on northbound Dumfries Rd.

At that point the Volkswagen hit four other vehicles, including the 2000 Mercury Marquis. The Mercury's driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital where he died later that next morning. His identity will be released upon notification of next of kin.

No other injuries were reported. The investigation is still ongoing.

The other vehicles involved were: A 2012 Dodge Journey, driven by an adult male of Allison Park, Pa.
A 2000 SAAB 93, driven by a 27-year-old Dale City woman.
A 2006 Chrysler Pacifica, driven by a 26-year-old Dumfries woman.
