MCLEAN, Va. (WUSA) -- A man posing as a maintenance man has been stealing purses and wallets from doctor's offices in McLean and Falls Church and some of his victims include cancer and rehabilitation patients, say Fairfax County Police.
According to police, the man has committed the thefts at least seven times since late June. The most recent theft was on September 20. In that case, police say a man had his wallet stolen from a cubby while he received physical therapy at an office in the 8000 block of Arlington Boulevard. Police say the suspect was seen walking around the building and looking at vents like he was doing maintenance.
They believe he is the same person who committed four larcenies in the 8000 block of Arlington Boulevard and three larcenies in the 8000 block of Leesburg Pike.
Police believe the man has been using stolen credit cards at gas stations in the DC area.
The suspect is described as in his late 20s in age. He was seen wearing a blue shirt and blue work pants with a neon green traffic vest.
