WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) - Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the August assault of Capitol Hill resident Thomas Maslin  near Eastern Market, according to D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier.

Tommy Tyrone Branch, 21, of Fort Washington, Md., Michael Moore, 18, of Landover, Md. and a juvenile male were arrested on Wednesday.

Maslin, 29, who was beaten and robbed in the late night-early morning hours of Aug. 17-18, suffered severe head injuries in the assault. He has endured several brain surgeries, was in critical condition for days, and is in the process of a slow recovery.

Speaking at a Wednesday night press conference, Lanier said that after the three beat and robbed Maslin, and left him near Eastern Market, they then went to 18th St and robbed three more people of their cell phones.

"I can not say enough about how heartbreaking it is to see that a piece of property or a cell phone will cause someone the type of injury and grief that these three individuals have caused the Maslin family, and they will live with for the rest of their lives, " Lanier said.

Police actually caught and arrested the suspects for the 18th Street robberies, but did not realize the trio was connected to Maslin's beating.

The three suspects were already out on bail when MPD investigators made the connection to Maslin's beating.
Officer Hugh Carew, a police spokesman, said additional charges would be brought in the man's beating.
