WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- A new grant program will allow DC teachers to apply for up to $1,000 for 'innovative classroom projects,' DC Public Schools (DCPS) Chancellor Kaya Henderson announced.
The $25,000 grant program is available for all Washington Teachers' Union members from all DCPS schools. The grant proposal can vary from $50 to $1,000 dollars depending on the need project.
"With this grant, they have the opportunity to apply for funds to try new and innovative ideas to boost student learning even further," Henderson said. "I fundamentally believe we have the greatest teachers in America and I want to help them in any way I can."
DCPS teachers were notified of the grant last week. Grant winners will be given a gift certificate to School Specialty, an online teacher supply store.
The deadline to apply is Friday, Sept. 21 by 5 p.m. at dcps.dc.gov/DCPS/teacherschoose.
