LAUREL, Md. (WUSA) -- Two people who allegedly fled from Howard County officers while their motel room was being searched for drugs have been charged, say police.
Thirty-five-year-old Michael Lee Felder and 25-year-old Kayla Lauren Miller of Greenbelt, Md. are charged with drug and gun offenses after they reportedly fled from the Turf Motel in the 9800 block of Washington Boulevard in Laurel on Thursday night.
According to police, officers had arrived at the hotel to serve a search and seizure warrant but while they were preparing officers saw Felder and Miller get into a Ford Taurus and driver off.
Police officers tried to make a traffic stop but Felder refused to stop and officers followed the car until Felder stopped it on southbound I-95 near I-695. Felder and Miller were arrested, and according to police, had drugs and drug paraphernalia with them.
Police say that officers back at the hotel found two handguns, ammunition, cash, drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Felder is charged with drug possession with intent to distribute, other drug charges, gun charges and fleeing and eluding police, say officials.
Miller faces charges of drug possession with intent to distribute, possession of paraphernalia and gun charges.
Both are awaiting bond hearings.
