WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- National Action Network president Rev. Al Sharpton will speak at Metropolitan A.M.E. Church on Sunday, September 23, according to the church's website.
He will be there for a worship service at 10 a.m. celebrating Christian Education Sunday.
Senior Pastor Rev. Ronald Braxton also designated that day as Voter Education and Registration Sunday. DC, Maryland and Virginia residents will have a chance to register to vote after the service. According to the church, "Rev. Sharpton has spoken out repeatedly about 'systematic voter disenfranchisement,' adding, 'wherever we live, we must combat voter disenfranchisement nationwide.'"
