WASHINGTON -- Riding the Amtrak just got way easier!
Amtrak has launched a national eTicket program - including the Northeast corridor, state supported routes and long-distance service - allowing passengers to print their ticket or present the eTicket on their smartphone.
"eTickets deliver the convenience and flexibility expected by passengers and its innovative technology is transforming other aspects of how Amtrak does business," said President and CEO Joe Boardman.
Amtrak officials hope this initiative help customers avoid long lines and go straight to the gate. Customers will now also be able to book or change their reservations online.
Before the national rollout, the eTicket program was piloted in five routes. Officials say it quickly exceeded expectations as lines were shorter at the ticket counters and fewer claims of lost tickets were received.
