WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- The DC Department of Public Works is distributing sandbags to DC residents Friday from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. at RFK Stadium Lot 7 after flooding in Bloomingdale and other area of the District.

Residents may take up to five sandbags, which weigh approximately 40 pounds each.

DC Water officials are trying to come up with short-term and long-term solutions for residents if these areas.  "We have already begun implementing what I call our Bloomingdale Action Agenda," commented DC Water General Manager George S. Hawkins. "This is a list of specific steps DC Water, residents and businesses, and other parts of the government are taking and can take to reduce the effects of runoff and flooding."
