Metro worker being rescued from under train at Shady Grove yard (@MCFirePIO via Twitter)
(WUSA) -- Metro tells 9News Now that shortly before 1 p.m. on Tuesday a Metro worker was struck by a non-passenger train at the Shady Grove Metro Yard.
Metro reported that the worker was conscious and alert. It did not give details about the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Montgomery County Fire officials said they had extricated the worker from under the train and that he was taken to a trauma center.
Metro said on Tuesday evening that the worker is in critical condition at Shock Trauma. The worker has not yet been identified and there is no update on the investigation. Metro said the worker had been with Metro for more than 25 years.
