WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Tuesday, 30,000 people are expected to visit the Howard Theatre in Northwest Washington for the public viewing for Chuck Brown. The D.C.-based musician died two weeks ago at age 75. He had been hospitalized for weeks.

Generations of his fans are expected to pay their respects to the Godfather of Go-Go. We talked to a few people Monday morning before the viewing for their thoughts on Brown. Early Monday afternoon, there was a sizeable crowd. The long line stretched for blocks and police were out trying to keep people in the shade to prevent any heat-related illnesses during the wait.

Vendors are also out selling memorabilia.

Whether you're going to the viewing or just driving through the neighborhood, there are some street closures to know about.  T Street is closed between 7th and Florida Northwest. At 9:30 a.m. the closure expanded to 9th Street. Parts of 7th, 8th, and Wiltberger Streets are closed. They will stay closed until midnight.

If you're planning on going to the viewing, consider taking public transportation...and bring a bottle or two of water.
