WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) - Up to a million tourists are expected to visit the District for the Cherry Blossom Festival, which means it's parking ticket season in the nation's capital.

"Just a warning, the were 68,000 parking tickets issued over the last Cherry Blossom festival period. Please, tourists beware and be warned," said Lon Anderson with AAA.

Last year, there were more parking tickets issued in the District during the Cherry Blossom Festival than during any other time of the year.

"Highest concentration of tickets all year," said Anderson.

9News Now asked several parking ticket writers in the District if they felt that was accurate. All replied, "No comment."

"It seems to me that we are not doing a very good service to our tourism industry in Washington, by welcoming them with parking tickets," said Anderson.
