WARREN, Ohio (AP) -- A northern Ohio lawyer has convinced eight fellow attorneys to grow out their facial hair as part of a worldwide movement to raise awareness and funds for men's cancer in November.
The Vindicator newspaper reports that Patrick Wilson convinced colleagues at the Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell law firm to grow mustaches and beards as part of the Movember movement.
For Movember, men grow mustaches during the month of November to raise funds for and awareness of prostate and testicular cancers.
Wilson is himself a survivor of prostate cancer.
Movember was started in 2005 by Australians who wanted a charitable cause for an impromptu decision to grow mustaches. It has since spread worldwide and in 2010, the U.S. Movember campaign raised $2.5 million for the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
