Student Killed In Stabbing At Bowie State

BOWIE, Md. (WUSA) -- Prince George's County police say a female student was stabbed at Bowie State University Thursday night and later died. They are calling the stabbing a homicide and say the suspect is still on the loose.

The stabbing happened shortly after 8 p.m. in the 14000 block of Jericho Park Road in Bowie. Police confirm that the victim was a sophomore student and that the stabbing happened in a dorm room at the Christa Mcaulliffe Residential Center.

Fire/EMS took the female to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police are in the process of notifying the victim's next of kin.

Her roommate was too destraught to speak to us on camera Thursday night but confirmed the victim's identity.

Detectives are on the scene and students were not allowed to go back into the dorms as of 11:03 p.m.

We are waiting for more details from county authorities and will update this story as we receive more information.

Homecoming events are happening at Bowie State this week but it is unknown if the stabbing was related to any event.
