WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA) -- Three relatives have been arrested in the New York/New Jersey area for the death of Kwang Sup Hur in Woodbridge earlier this month, say Prince William County Police.
Hur's wife found him dead on September 1 inside his home in the 13900 block of Hedgewood Dr in Woodbridge. The cause of death was determined to be strangulation, say police.
Police say an investigation in Virginia and New York City revealed three relatives, a brother-in-law, sister-in-law and nephew, as possible suspects. Police say they needed to interview Jung Min Jun and discovered on Sept. 9 that he was at Newark International Airport trying to board a flight to Beijing. Police arrested him. Detectives and a crime scene analyst from Prince William County went to Newark and to New York City to follow up on leads and identified the other two accused individuals.
According to police, their motive for murder appears to be insurance fraud in which all would benefit from a life insurance policy payout of $1 million.
Jung Min Jun, 58, (brother-in-law of Hur, Ho Young Jun, 26, (nephew of Hur) and Jung Ok Jun, 56, (sister-in-law of Hur) all of Fresh Meadows, NY have been charged with accessory to murder. They are currently waiting for extradition.
