LAUREL, Md. (WUSA) -- Friends and loved ones of 27-year-old Lauren Giddings gathered on Saturday to say their final farewells to the Laurel native.
The young woman had gone missing from her Macon, Georgia apartment on June 25th. Investigators said they found her dismembered body 5 days later inside a garbage bag near her apartment building. Giddings, had been living in Macon since 2008. She recently graduated from law school. Police arrested her neighbor, and law school classmate Stephen McDaniel and charged him with her murder.
More than 500 people packed into the St. Mary of the Mills Church for her funeral ceremony on Saturday. A private burial ceremony was held for Giddings, at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church Cemetary.
Her loved ones described her as a "loving", and "smart" young woman who had a bright future ahead of her.
Her suspected killers remains jailed in Georgia.
