Pedestrian Struck, Killed In Germantown

GERMANTOWN, Md. (WUSA) -- Police are investigating a crash on Germantown Road that killed a pedestrian early Monday morning.

Captain Paul Starks, spokesman for the Montgomery County Police Department, says a young man, Dominque McFarlane-Chase of Gaithersburg, was hit as he crossed the southbound lanes of Germantown Road by a 2000 Lexus ES 300 traveling southbound near Aircraft Drive around 12:50 a.m. McFarlane-Chase, 20, was transported to Suburban Hospital where he later died.

The driver of the Lexus has been identified as Leonard Mensah of the 14100 block of Tattershall Place in Germantown. Capt. Starks says Mensah stayed at the scene at the scene after the crash.

Germantown Road was shut down in both directions at Aircraft Drive for several hours to allow for the investigation.  The road reopened around 6 a.m.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435. Callers remain anonymous.
