OXON HILL, Md. (WUSA) -- The Tuskegee Airmen celebrate their 70th year in 2011. The Tuskegee Airmen are known as the first Black Americans to fight on the front-line of a war.
The Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. (TAI) is a non-profit organization whose goal is to continue the legacy of the Airmen through research and presentations.
The East Coast chapter of TAI will host the 40th anniversary Gala on August 3rd, at Gaylord Hotel National Harbor.
New initiatives to advance the next generation of Tuskegee Airmen will be discussed at the Gala, said a TAI representative.
The TAI will also give scholarships to youth with interests in careers in aviation and aerospace.
