WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- DC Council Chairman Kwame Brown has returned the controversial Lincoln Navigator leased by the city for nearly $2,000 per month.
Brown says he apologizes for the disruption this has caused. He regrets that it "appeared" he was insensitive to the financial challenges the city and residents face.

Brown says he intends to reimburse the District for his use of the vehicle.
Sources tell 9NEWS NOW the DC government appears to be stuck for the remainder of the lease, not just on the Chairman's current Lincoln Navigator, but also for a second leased SUV. Brown rejected the second leased SUV because he didn't like the color of the interior.
