WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA)-- Interim DC School Chancellor Kaya Henderson Wednesday stunned some people when she told reporters she had not yet decided if she wants the nod from Mayor-elect Vincent Gray to take the chancellor job in the new administration.

Gray will be sworn into office on January 2nd and Wednesday said it's not likely he'll have a new school Chancellor selected by then.

He told reporters he'll abide by a process laid out in the School Reform law that calls for a citizen panel to screen all candidates.

Henderson has gotten high marks from Gray who negotiated to put her in the interim position shortly after he upset incumbent Mayor Adrian Fenty in the September Primary.

That negotiation also produced the resignation of Fenty's Chancellor Michelle Rhee who hired Henderson as her Deputy.

Sources say despite today's comments, Gray is expected to select Henderson and she is expected to accept the post of Chancellor.
