WASHINGTON (WUSA)-- D.C. Mayor-Elect Vincent Gray came as close as he could on Tuesday without formally announcing that interim school chancellor Kaya Henderson will be his choice to take the post next month when Gray is sworn into office.
In an interview with 9News Now on Tuesday, Gray had nothing but praise for how Henderson has handled the interim position, especially establishing community ties which Gray found lacking in former chancellor Michelle Rhee.
Gray, Henderson and outgoing mayor Adrian Fenty appeared together at Dunbar Senior high to unveil plans for a new school. The cost will be $100 million.
Because of budget pressures other schools might have their construction projects pushed back or canceled.
