Dulles Flight Forced To Land In Iowa Because Of Unusual Smell

STERLING, Va. (WUSA/CNN) -- A flight taking off from Dulles Airport was forced to land because of an "unusual smell" United Airlines officials said.

Flight 846, from Dulles to San Francisco, landed in Des Moines, Iowa as a precaution because of the smell.

The plane carrying 244 passengers, took off from Dulles at 8:10 a.m. 

While the crew inspects the aircraft, another plane will be sent from Chicago to Des Moines to carry the passengers the rest of the way.
