ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA) -- Right now several hundred residents are without power in Arlington thanks to a tree that fell on wires overnight.
Le Ha Anderson, spokeswoman for Dominion Virginia Power, says the tree fell on wires on private property around 11:00 Monday night. Anderson says the tree brought down three power poles and broke a dozen cross-arms on Walter Reed Drive.
The incident put approximately 2500 customers in the dark. Anderson says all but approximately 440 customers have been rerouted.
Anderson says additional crews are coming in to take over repairs from the workers who have been on scene through the overnight hours. She anticipates the remaining outages should be restored between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m.
S. Walter Reed Drive is shut down between S Dinwiddie and S Wakefield Streets. This closure will likely remain in place until repairs are completed.
