WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- "I killed that b----, but I didn't rape her!"

Powerful testimony against Ingmar Guandique Thursday in his trial on charges of raping, robbing and murdering former intern Chandra Levy nearly a decade ago.

Armando Morales told jurors that Guandique confessed to killing Chandra Levy. Morales was Guandique's cellmate at the Big Sandy federal prison in Kentucky in August, 2006.

Morales, a gang member doing a long stretch for armed robbery, says Guandique was scared because he was moving to another prison. He was worried that if some of his fellow gang member in the new prison found out he had raped a woman, they would attack him.

"Rapist is no good," Morales testified. "They target you." He says he told Guandique that if he told the gang members at the next prison that he never raped her, he would be ok.

Morales says he had two conversations with Guandique about Chandra Levy. The first time he says Guandique told him he had broken up with his girlfriend because he expected to be charged with murder, and "he didn't have nothing to offer her (the girlfriend)."

Morales says Guandique said he never meant to kill Levy, that he didn't even know she was dead when he dragged her into the woods. He said he thought she was just unconscious, and that "if I thought she was dead, I would never would have gone back (to Rock Creek Park) to rob people."
