BRANDYWINE, Md. (WUSA) -- A police officer responding to a call for service in Prince George's County has been injured in a car accident in Brandywine.
Officer Henry Tippett, spokesperson for Prince George's County Police, says one of their officers was driving on Old Branch Avenue with activated lights and sirens when he somehow struck a tree near Moores Road.
Tippett says an off-duty DC Police officer was the first person on the scene and found the injured officer unconscious. The off-duty policeman used the officer's radio to call for help.
According to Tippett, the injured officer has regained consciousness and has been transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
Right now the circumstances of the accident are under investigation.
