American University Professor Found Dead In Bethesda

BETHESDA, Md. (WUSA) -- Sue Ann Marcum, an Accounting Professsor at American University in Washington, DC, was found dead in her Bethesda home shortly before 11AM.

Montgomery County Police officials say Marcum, 52, was found on the lower level of the home by a friend who immediately called police. 

Police say the preliminary investigation revealed signs of forced entry to the home and signs of a struggle. It has also been determined that the victim's vehicle is missing. The vehicle is described as a1999 gold or tan Jeep Cherokee with Virginia tags YXE 1456. 

Professor Marcum was a graduate of American University and had been teaching there since 1999.

Police ask that anyone who saw or heard anything unusual at or near the residence, or anyone who has any information about the vehicle to call the Major Crime Division at 240-773-5070.
