WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA) -- Pura Valdez says she wasn't even sure what Mega Millions was, but decided to go a head and buy her first Virginia Lotto Ticket.
She purchased the ticket at Giant on Glebe Road in Arlington. That store got $10,000. A spokeswoman says they'll likely donate the money.
"She asked do you want to get a Megaplier-- and I said 'what's that?'" Veldez says. "And she explained to me that I double my money. I said 'sure, why not?'"
Valdez says she let the machine pick her numbers, and now she's a millionaire.
"This morning actually is the first time I cried. I cried and realized that it is that big," she says, "I lost five pounds already. I haven't slept, I haven't ate."
Valdez says she plans to go back to college and major in business. She says her husband will get his masters degree. The rest they'll invest and save for retirement.
"We're going to stretch this until we're probably going to retire," she says.
She said both of them will keep their jobs.
