WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) - DC Police officers are searching for a lone gunman who shot an armored car guard in SE Washington.
Police said the armored car was making a delivery and pickup at a Popeye's restaurant at that location.
The victim reportedly got back into the armored car and was taken to the United Medical Center on Southern Avenue. A spokesperson for the Hospital said the victim was flown to the MedStar section of the Washington Hospital Center for treatment.
Police have not said whether any money was taken, but a witnesses said no money was taken. The witness, who did want to be identified, said the guard was shot as soon as he got out of his vehicle, and then the gunman ran off.
Accord to the police, there were about seven witnesses to the incident inside the Popeye's.
Police are searching the surrounding neighborhood for the gunman.
