MORE: How I Survived 40 Lashes
The designer of this year's bathing suits for this Year's Miss Universe pageant is a local woman who used inspiration from fear to find new freedom in fashion.
At Charm Georgetown, Tala Rassi finds the perfect match for one of her bikinis for an upcoming photoshoot. The 27-year old's creations will be seen on the world's most beautiful women on Monday during the Miss Universe Pageant.
It's success found years after leaving her native Iran where she painfully remembers being arrested for wearing a mini-skirt on her 16th birthday. She was punished and sentenced to receive 40 lashings.
Tala's clothing line is called 'Dar be Dar' and means Door to Door. She says it's symbolic of the challenges she faced in searching for support to become a designer. See which bikinis make the pageant cut. The Miss Universe Pageant airs Monday.
