ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Republican Robert Ehrlich has chosen Mary Kane to be his running mate in his bid to regain the governor's office in Maryland.
The 48-year-old Kane lives in Potomac, an affluent area of Montgomery County. Ehrlich has been focusing attention in the county. It is Maryland's largest jurisdiction and a key battleground in the governor's race because it is rich in potential swing voters.
Kane has served as director of special projects at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce since January 2008. She is married to John Kane. He is a former Maryland Republican Party chairman who is president of the Kane Company, a commercial moving company.
Mary Kane served as Ehrlich's secretary of state from August 2005 until the end of his first term as governor in 2007.
