DAMASCUS, Md. (WUSA) -- Five people were injured Saturday night when a deck collapsed at a home in Damascus in Montgomery County.

Scott Graham, assistant chief with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue, said there were about 10 people on the deck in the 10600 block of Sweepstakes Road when it fell about half a floor.

The accident at the single-family home occurred just after 7 p.m.

Five people were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Graham said.

The cause of the collapse is unknown. Montgomery County building inspectors were notified.
